An apprentice on a journey to become a mentor

Twenty-seven years after my birth, sitting in a cozy MBA class in Syracuse University USA with students from at least 12 different countries, I reminisced the times when I sobbed for not having enough money to pay the bills to the proudest accomplishment of earning the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to USA. I opened my eyes in the picturesque but geographically challenging mountainous region of Himalayas in the extreme north of Pakistan . For thirty-six years, my father taught as a school teacher and when he retired, he was barely making $100 a month. But firm and strong as his surroundings, he instilled the passion for education in me and my siblings despite his perpetual poverty. Despite having incessant moments of fatigue and worry, I didn’t let the  feeling of absolute abandonment carry me over. And that helped me thrive.  But it is just the beginning.
